The Fourth Annual Sam
Cooke Tribute
September 28 - 30, 2006
This past September, The Sam Cooke Fan Club celebrated their 4th
Annual Tribute in Sam's honor. Fans from around the world
joined members of the Cook family in Chicago to celebrate the wonderful
music and warm memories Sam Cooke left us.
The Fan Club came to life when fans around the world began to share
their Sam Cooke experiences on a Yahoo! Message Board in 1998. After
years of discussion, the Yahoo! members decided to meet face to
face, and in November of 2002 the Sam Cooke Tribute Foundation was
born. The founding members had such a good time at ìThe Premiere
Tribute to Mr. Sam Cookeî in Atlanta, they decided to do it
again in 2003, this time in Sam's home town of Chicago.
In observance of the 40th anniversary of Sam's death in 2004,
the Foundation tabled the third Tribute until January of 2005, convening
in Los Angeles over Sam's birthday weekend. Shortly thereafter,
the club changed their name to the Sam Cooke Fan Club.
In 2006, Chicago was once again voted the city of choice. Here are
some of the photographs from that glorious weekend:

Sam's niece Doncella, former love Dorothy Holloway Coates, sister Agnes, and niece Ophelia.

Sam's grandchildren: Kimber, Kiyana, Kenan and Kira Bolling.
